The Picture Rocks Fire District was established July 1, 1977 under the laws of the State of Arizona to provide fire protection and life safety services for the area within the Fire District boundaries.  The District was formed as a direct result of the tragic deaths of two children on March 1, 1977 that occurred in a structure fire less than two blocks from where Picture Rocks Fire Administration Building is now located.

In the last 30 years we have grown from an all volunteer force to having a paid crew of 5 on 24 hours a day.

The Picture Rocks Fire District serves a population estimated at 10,000 and covers 33 square miles.

Station 120 is currently located at 6625 N. Sandario Rd.  We have property located at 7341 N. Sandario Rd. where our new station will be built.

Administration is located at 12121 W. Picture Rocks Rd.

Dedicated to providing life safety to our community through protection, prevention and education.

The Picture Rocks Fire District Board of Directors consists of five non-partisan members elected by the citizens of Picture Rocks Fire District, at large.  Each member is elected for a four year term of office.  Board members serve as volunteers and receive no pay for this public service.  The District Board hires a Fire Chief to service as administrator for the District.

The operating budget is financed by property taxes assessed in the district, as well as revenue received through ambulance services and governmental contracts.  It is one of the few taxes that truly is for the purpose it was intended.

The members of the Picture Rocks Fire District dedicate themselves to the safety and protection of the community.  We believe that the success of the District, in the performance of its duties, is largely measured by the degree of support and cooperation received from the people we serve.  We continually strive to meet the changing needs of our community by:

1)  Keeping current in the latest technological advances for more effective and efficient service.

2)  Developing educational programs to heighten public awareness of fire safety at all ages.

3)  Establishing fire codes to prevent the devastating effects and hazards of fire.

4)  Maintaining ourselves and our equipment in a constant state of readiness to serve those in time of need.
